Spokane Elder Resource Team

Statement of Purpose

To disseminate information, free of charge, in public settings, about all aspects of elder planning by a team of top elder planning professionals in the Greater Spokane Area.

History

The Spokane Elder Resource Team was founded in 2014 by Joel Ferris, Jr. As a long term care insurance professional, Joel was often asked by clients, “Who do you recommend….” (for some form of elder planning). He decided to research which individuals were considered to be the top elder professionals in the area. He started by contacting those who, like himself, had written articles for the Innovating Senior Resource Guide for Living for Spokane and personally interviewed each prospective member of what became the Spokane Elder Resource Team (SERT). The group meets monthly and each member has their own unique story of why they got into the elder planning field. That story usually involves a family member who needed care and the personal challenges related to that form of caregiving. All SERT members are aware that there is a symbiotic relationship between various age related planning for long term care, elder law, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, adult and geriatric care management, senior related housing issues, and financial planning.

The goal of the Spokane Elder Resource Team (SERT) is to be a resource to the Spokane community and lift the veil on the very important and often mysterious area of elder planning.
